Frames of Love was founded in 2013 by Carol McKinney and Shannon DeFord. The entire Frames of Love team shares a passion for photography and a love for hurting people.
Carol McKinney: " My family and I were in a terrible car wreck in April 2002. Our 10 yr old son died the next day as a result of his injuries. Exactly a week earlier, to the day, I'd had my kids' photos taken ( by Shannon DeFord). Those photos are a priceless treasure to my family. They mean more to me as each year passes without our son. I wanted to give back to families the precious gift of photos that had been given to me in 2002. The Lord opened a door for Shannon and I to create Frames of Love and it's been one of the most fulfilling experiences I've ever had. " Carol has been a professional photographer since 2005 and owns Carol McKinney Photography.
Shannon DeFord: "My love for photography began with the birth of my daughter in 1998. I delighted in capturing those every day moments and expressions of her with my camera as I never wanted to forget them. Soon, I began taking photos of friends and their children and realized that I truly enjoyed preserving memories for families. In the spring of 2002, my path crossed with Carol McKinney’s when I had the opportunity to take photos of her three children. The photo shoot went well and many smiles and laughs were expressed and captured. I don’t exactly remember how I found out about the tragic car accident Carol and her family were in soon after our photo shoot that resulted in her ten year old son Graham’s passing, but do remember the deep sorrow and worry I felt for the McKinney family. I knew that the photos I had taken of Carol’s kids would become “forever treasures” to not only Clint and Carol, but their entire family. That one photo shoot affirmed in my heart the importance of capturing photographic memories for families. My love for photography and my strong desire to give back to others in my community and my faith in God nudged me into my role as a Frames of Love photographer. What a delight it is to minister to and love on families through the gift of photography given to me by my Father. I am blessed."
